July 's approachin'

As we approach July, the birds are chirping and the ducklings are playing in Ice Creek.  We've been lucky with the nice weather this week and are definitely putting it to good use.  With July 4th coming in, we are working hard to make sure the course stays in pristine shape!  Now we're just hoping for sunny days and warm temperatures to come.

Kicking it into Gear

Here at Blueberry Pines, the weather is warming up quite nicely after the rainy weather we had last week.  The rain definitely helped to make it greener!  As the grass is growing faster we've had to "kick it" into gear to keep up with it.  But with the young crew we've got plenty of energy to go around.

As the summer has progressed we've begun to clean up the burnt edges of the golf course.  It has given us the opportunity to cleanse the earth and build our creativity with diverting the eye from any bare spots.  For example, we've added popping colors by 2 tees.  We've also been discussing the addition of spruce trees and white pines between 2 and 7 fairways.

Tip of The Day: If the candles on your pine trees look like long skinny dinner candles, your trees are healthy. If the candles look like pine cones they're stressed out from drought, fire or even pesky insects.

Our Summer Start

As our summer takes flight, our grass is growing greener and we're able to move the flowers onto the course.  The flowers' blooms definitely add an aesthetic touch and catch the eye.  With the cold temperatures, pesky frost and inches of rain, our greens are a little on the slow side.  But with a little bit of sunshine and a good attitude to keep the frost away, the greens will be speeding up with a vengeance!

Tip of the Day: When the ants build about two inch tall hills it's going to rain.  If they are wide and short then you're in the clear
